Toxic/Out of Balance? – Bet You Are

Most of us have Toxic Stuff stuck in our bodies. By toxic, I mean anything that is not doing our body good. And it gets stuck there because our bodies haven’t been able to get rid of it.

Frankly you cannot avoid toxins – they’ll hit you through food, the environment, water, mouth fillings, using plastics, skin care, cleaning materials, anaesthetics and so on. They are (increasingly) a fact of life. The trick is to be healthy enough to be able to deal with them. They should be simply flushed out of the body, but that doesn’t always happen.

Toxicity may show in myriad ways, including:

  • Fatigue and Chronic Fatigue

  • Inability to shift excess weight

  • Low energy

  • Mood swings

  • Joint pain

  • Memory loss

  • Spots on face

  • Tinnitus

What has gone wrong? And what can be done about it?

The key is to eat the foods that will help your body deal with all this Toxic Stuff. It's all going to pass through your liver which may or may not be able to cope so give it some assistance.

To help explain, let’s look at what exactly the liver is doing:

The blood entering the liver is carrying nutrients (vitamins, minerals, proteins etc). It is also loaded with the toxins. In fact, at this point this blood is VERY toxic. The liver sets about processing and splitting out the good from the bad. The good is those elements needed to nourish the body; the bad is the waste and toxins.

Now, if our livers are not in good order then it’s a bit like driving through fog – the liver is bunged up and cannot work efficiently. So then some of the waste is misdirected and goes into the ‘good exit’ and is taken back into the blood and round the body. This includes some of the toxic material. And this may then get re-presented to the liver or may be deposited in fat around the body (it’s put into fat in order to protect the body from the toxic-not-good-for-you-at-all nasties) Some of the waste will be taken down the waste chute, where it will stick to soluble fibre and then escorted into the intestines and excreted.

What to do - there are three areas to look at here.

  1. Eat more Antioxidants - these will help your liver to be in good working order in the first place. They are key and found in brightly coloured veg and fruit; Vitamin B3 and Milk Thistle will help support the liver function.

  2. Eat plenty of soluble fibre so the toxins can be immobilised and removed safely. Soluble fibre is in oats, greens, veggies, fruit, pulses. Drinking lots of water (not coffee, fizzy drinks, alcohol which all bring with them toxins!) will help.

  3. Take regular exercise which will help excrete toxins through your sweat, make your breathing deeper, help your intestines move the waste towards the exit! If you have, or are close to, Chronic Fatigue then please take care; exercise gently - be kind to yourself.

  4. Try to reduce your exposure to toxins – use glass bottles for water, buy organic foods if you can, cut out the fizzy drinks, check out your skin care, eat small fish (not farmed salmon, sword fish, tuna which are all high in mercury), buy the most natural cleaning and household products you can find, avoid synthetic fragrances.

Help your liver to work optimally and the rewards will be magnificent

. With it working well, lots of symptoms will reduce or disappear and your energy will soar.
